At Kyne’s Hands Foundation, real impact happens because of the people on the ground who care deeply about their communities. Recently, one of our local team members went above and beyond by pitching our latest initiative to radio stations and journalists in Liberia—and the response was incredible!
Thanks to their effort, our work was featured by major outlets like the Women Voices Newspaper and the Liberian Observer. It’s a huge win for our team, and a great way to show our supporters the real difference we’re making together.
Bringing Independence Day Relief to Barnesville
The story highlighted a distribution event we held in District #11, Barnesville (Montserrado County), just ahead of Liberia’s Independence Day.
Our Administrative Manager, Ishmael V. Sonnie, along with a great team of local volunteers, handed out $600 worth of rice to over 60 single mothers and elderly women. This outreach was made possible thanks to support from donors in both Liberia and Colorado Springs.
For many of these mothers, Liberia’s 179th Independence Day was more than a national holiday—it was a day they felt supported and remembered.
Speaking to the community during the event, Ishmael shared:
“We are so glad to share these bags of rice so you and your families can celebrate Independence Day together. We care about your health, your well-being, and your safety, and we’ll keep working to make sure women, girls, and vulnerable families have equal opportunities.”
Building Long-Term Support Across Liberia
This giveaway was part of our broader “Rice and Shoes Drive Rally,” kicked off by our CEO, Cynthia Kengo, along with leadership in Monrovia and Colorado Springs.
Since KHF was founded in 2021, we’ve focused on four practical pillars:
- Preventing abuse and neglect
- Distributing food to families in need
- Providing basic medical assistance
- Supporting children’s education and safety
Our team is currently active across Montserrado, Margibi, and Nimba Counties, offering meals, school materials, emergency shelter, and ongoing support to local families.
What’s Next: Shoes and School Supplies
The news coverage also shared a look at what’s coming up next. Cynthia Kengo recently announced that we’ve received a new batch of shoes and school supplies from international donors. Our team is currently packing these up to ship to Liberian students ahead of the new school year.
